Spanish AEND Conference
On 12, 13 and 14 June 2019 the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz will host the 14th annual Spanish NDT Conference at the Europa Conference Centre, and it is my pleasure to invite you to participate as attendees, speakers, exhibitors or companions.
The Spanish Society for Nondestructive Testing has entrusted the organisation of this Conference to the AEND’s Northern Zone Committee which is made up of Cantabria, the Basque Country and Navarra, territories in which the implementation of NDT is highly developed, especially in the metal and non-metallic manufacturing and assembly areas for the automotive, aeronautical, petroleum, railway and wind generation component sectors. In addition to these industrial manufacturing areas we cannot forget the applications of NDTs in the studies and research of historical and artistic heritage. All this activity, translated into data, means that over the last few years, 449 companies on this Committee have requested Certiaend to certify their personnel resulting in 2,944 certified people and 4,662 methods. In addition to the presentations that will explore the scientific discoveries and practical applications, this Conference will include plenary sessions and round tables where some of the advanced technologies such as industry 4.0 and NDT, structural health monitoring, simulation and NDT, modelling and advanced training will be discussed.
There will also be a large exhibition zone with an exclusive area where the attending firms can demonstrate their developments. These activities will reinforce the professional networks and personal contacts which are such valuable aspects for present and future relationships.
In addition to the scientific programme we have planned an extensive programme of social activities including a welcome reception in the gardens of the Museum of Fine Arts and a dinner/visit in the town of Laguardia in the Rioja Alavesa. Moreover, the companions are scheduled to visit Bilbao, San Sebastian and Salinas de Añana.
Lastly, I would like to mention that since this Conference is being held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a European Green Capital, it will be a sustainable event (according to UNE-ISO 20121) with a sharp reduction of negative environmental impacts and the enhancement of positive social and economic impacts. This philosophy, which we fully agree with, will also provide us with appreciable aid connected with use of the Europa Conference Centre by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council.
See you in Vitoria!
